Unite for Peace
Performers will be part of an exciting day of events. Activities will include a Youth Unite for Peace Parade, Positive Youth Production, "Universal Beat," and Family Festival. Performances should be positive and uplifting in nature. A wide variety of performers are needed to participate in the parade, youth production and family festival. We are seeking to express a full range of the performance arts, from the familiar to the boldly unexpected. Unique acts that intrigue the senses (striking visuals, movement/dance, soundscapes, and tactile experiences) are particularly desirable. Interactive performances and installations are also requested. All body types, ages, genders, and ethnicities encouraged to apply. Open to seasoned acts as well as interested novices. Auditions are required for the youth production. The festival does not pay performers. Performing at the festival is on a volunteer basis. Parade: Open call for bands, drill and dance teams, youth groups, youth clubs, concerned citizens, after school programs, performers of all nationalities who want to publicly demonstrate the call for peace and unity throughout the world. (Registration Required)- Deadline to Register January 30, 2009. Youth Production: Open call for youth performers, individuals and groups in all areas of song, music, dance, spoken word/poetry, drama and hip-hop/rap. Performances must be positive and uplifting and promote peace and unity. Original works are especially encouraged. Dance pieces are to be no longer than 3 minutes. Actors should prepare a 1minute monologue and be prepared for a cold read from script. Vocalist and groups should be prepared to sing acapella. Auditions will be held: Saturday February 7, 2009 from 9:00-4:00pm, location TBA. (Registration Required)-Deadline to Register for Auditions January 30, 2009. Note: All performers must be available for the three Saturdays prior to the event for rehearsals. Family Festival: Open call for interactive performances and installations which promote cooperation and understanding among the peoples of the world. Event highlight: We want to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest drum circle (3140). So we are calling for experienced and novice drummers from all parts of the world to participate in the largest gathering of drums for an international drum circle.
