We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, creative, business minded Youth and Business Development Coordinator to provide strategic guidance to staff, teams, and high school interns in ways that promote the organization’s culture and advance the mission to empower young minds to transform their communities. The optimal candidate will be able to work at the grassroots level in communities, promote youth development principles, oversee the progress of business development, assess and directly engage with teens to facilitate life skills and work readiness curriculum. The candidate must be an excellent leader and have experience in managing multiple staff and professional instructors.

Essential Tasks & Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Prepare youth to be successful in business and entrepreneurship practices and provide them with role models and resources to be successful
  • Oversee project based learning that results in viable business products and services

Program Coordination and Evaluation

  • Work with Project Director to plan program activities, meet program outcomes and contractual requirements
  • Coordinate service delivery and establishes intern recruitment plan
  • Implement reporting procedures to keep Project Director abreast of program status and concerns
  • Perform monthly quality assurance checks of service delivery units, client files and database integrity
  • Develop, control, and meet deadlines
  • Apply change risk and resource management
  • Assess program performance and maximize efficiencies
  • Lead Youth Program Quality Assessment (YPQA) practices
  • Assist with information gathering needed for grant reporting and program development

Team Leadership

  • Manage support staff and consultants
  • Plan and schedule training development for support staff and interns
  • Coordinate Special Events
  • Facilitate youth enrichment lessons plans as needed

Student Engagement

  • Scheduling and conducting program in-take interviews with high school interns
  • Communicate with interns via email, phone, and in-person
  • Share employment, scholarships and post high school opportunities with interns

Event coordination

  • Secure venues for events and showcases
  • Curate and install shows and other off-site/traveling events
  • Install and de-install shows as needed

Program Partnerships

  • Identify and develop rapport with funders, community stakeholders, school administrative, interns and parents to enhance the program
  • Secure signed agreements for use of facilities, industry professionals and other partners to the program
  • Develop donation offers (both in-kind and monetary)
  • Perform other functions as necessary

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate well in English
  • Business English, proper grammatical usage and simple math
  • Critical thinking / deductive reasoning skills
  • Good knowledge of interviewing and data collection techniques, record keeping, and confidentiality concerning client records
  • Working skill in collecting information from clients in completing standard forms and preparing required reports
  • Social service welfare principles and practices
  • Ability to provide emotional support and encouragement to clients
  • Ability to motivate clients to fully participate in service programs
  • An innovative thinker with a sense of urgency, detail oriented and highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Analyze situation and solve problems
  • Maintain professional and positive relationships with school staff, partners, students, and parents
  • Create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful, and stimulating environment
  • Maintain and forward fiscal data, including receipts, timesheets, supply/material requests in accordance with site budgets in conjunction with the Site Coordinator
  • Must be able to work with clients who have a variety of socio-economic needs
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Survey Monkey, Trust Central, Internet, and email
  • Proven experience as a Coordinator
  • Outstanding leadership and organizational skills

What You Will Need

The successful candidate will have a familiarity with and passion for working with underserved youth, in addition to the following:

  • A degree in business management, entrepreneurship, or related field of study—completed or in progress preferred
  • Familiarity and experience with diverse populations and culture competencies strongly desired
  • Ability to plan curriculum
  • Must be self-directed and detail-oriented
  • Good command of Microsoft Word and Excel

Desired Qualifications: Project Management Certification, Adobe Creative Suite, Social Media savvy, Youth Entrepreneurship Certification
